Remove Audio from Video

Remove Audio from Video is a free online tool that mutes a video by removing its sound completely, without re-encoding the picture. The new video looks exactly like the original, with no quality loss at all, and it's ready in seconds, even for long videos. If your video has more than one audio track, like a movie with several languages, you can choose which ones to remove and which ones to keep.

Your video is never uploaded anywhere: everything happens inside your own browser. It works with the videos of phones, cameras, screen recorders and the internet: MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV.

How to use this online tool?

  1. Upload the video.
  2. If the video has more than one audio track, choose the ones to remove. Otherwise, there is nothing to choose: the audio is removed.
  3. Click "Remove audio", check the result in the player, and click "Download".

Does removing the audio reduce the quality of the video?

No. Most video editors and online tools decode every frame of the video and compress it again when you mute it, which always loses some quality and takes a long time. This tool doesn't touch the picture: the compressed video data is copied as it is into the new file, and only the audio is left out. The result looks exactly like the original, frame by frame, and it's ready in a few seconds, even for a video that is hours long. As a bonus, the new file is smaller, because it no longer carries the sound.

Can I remove just one of the audio tracks?

Yes. Some videos, like movies and series, have more than one audio track: one for each language, or an extra track with the director's commentary. When your video has more than one, the tool lists them all with their language and format, and you choose which ones to remove. The tracks you keep are copied as they are, with no quality loss, and keep their language.

Which videos can I use?

Videos in MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV, encoded with H.264, H.265 (HEVC), VP8, VP9, AV1 or ProRes, which covers videos from phones, cameras, screen recorders and most of the internet. The new video keeps the format of the original whenever possible: an MP4 stays an MP4, a MOV stays a MOV, and so on. The rotation of phone videos and the basic metadata, like the title and the recording date, are kept too.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. This tool has no server side at all. Your video is read, processed and saved by your own browser, and it never leaves your computer.
